Aviation gin is the result of a collaboration between a distillery and a bartender in Portland, Oregon. It came to be in June of 2006, after thirty rounds of trials, and has since spread across the planet. It is a gin that belongs to an entirely new category of Dry gins, departing relatively radically from the traditional London school that has been dominant for more than two centuries. Aviation brings juniper down slightly, exploring instead savoury, floral notes like lavender, cardamom and sarsaparilla. The result is a drink that is lush and uniquely American.
Tasting Notes
The nose is clean and promises lavender, citrus and earthy flavours. You will get spicy, floral notes, and a long clean finish. It is a great gin for those looking for a break from the London orthodoxy
