The ‘Old J’ label aims to recreate the spiced, vanilla-rich rums that were popular in the UK just a few years ago – and this version introduces a shot of cherry sharpness into the mix.
Edward Vernon, the man after whom this drink is named, was famous for cutting the rum ration of British sailors in 1740. He suggested that sailors who didn’t like it could spend their wages on additives like sugar and lime-juice – and, though few sailors of the time would have had the means to do such a thing, modern drinkers can follow the advice! The result is this sweet, accessible rum that’s just 35% ABV.
This variant has been infused with mascara cherries, which provide a dose of fruitiness that nicely complements a glass of coke. Compose a personal message, and we’ll laser-engrave it onto the glass.
