Hennessy VS is often called'the reference cognac'; it's the drink against which other cognacs are measured! It's the work of an Irish Aristocrat named Richard Hennessy who, in 1765, founded a cognac business. His name has been inseparable from the cognac industry ever since, with his great grandson Maurice putting together the first system for classifying cognacs in 1865.
