This is the house's most famous wine, formulated in 1876 to satisfy the demanding tastes of Tsar Alexander II. The emperor demanded that the best cuvee be reserved for him each year, and the results were delivered to him in a specially-crafted lead-crystal bottle. it has to this annual tradition that this most prestigious brand owes its name.
The Cristal champagne is produced during the years when both Pinot Noir (which comprise 60% of the mixture) and Chardonnay grapes (which comprise around 40%) have been perfectly matured. The results are matured for six years in Louis Roderer's cellars and then for another eight months after disgorgement. you will be able to make your bottle even more fit-for-an-emperor with the help of a custom laser-engraving; simply let us know your preferred message and we will etch it onto the glass for you.
Tasting Notes
This champagne combines fruity aromas with a silky mouthfeel, and a palate that brings together white fruit with a subtle mineral quality. It will retain its explosive character for up to two decades and so it has worth saving for a special occasion!
