A personalised bottle of Balvenie 12-year-old Double wood is sure to make a fantastic gift for a whisky lover with an appreciation of whisky-making tradition. This 12-year-old scotch has a distinctive character, which is created mostly using a combination of two different wood types (hence the name of the scotch). .
To make this scotch, whisky is matured for twelve years in traditional casks, ex-bourbon oak barrels and hogsheads. It’s then finished for an additional nine months in ex-sherry casks from Spain, before being transferred to a large oak vessel to marry for three-four months.
At each stage of this process, the casks impart a subtle character into the drink, with the end result being a harmonious whole which amounts to more than the sum of its parts. You’ll be able to make your bottle all the better with the help of a personal laser-engraved message; just let us know what you’d like it to be!
Tasting Notes
In the nose, you’ll get a waft of sweet fruits and Oloroso sherry, which gives way to a palate that’s mellow and quaffable. There are nutty, spicy and sweet notes all mingling nicely, before a finish that’s long and toasty-warm.
