This is among the peatiest, smokiest single-malt drinks in existence. But these flavours are expertly balanced with the natural sweet flavours of the malt, to create a stunningly complex drink that you’ll return to again and again. It’s scooped multiple awards, including at the World Whiskies Awards and the San Francisco Wold Spirits Competition. The malts which produce Ardbeg whiskies are added to a vessel called a mash turn, where they’re hand-mashed alongside water from Loch Uigeadail before being fermented. The whiskies are overwhelmingly matured in ex-bourbon oak barrels, which helps to give them that complex, woody appeal. Tasting Notes
The aroma presents a wash of intense, smoked fruit, which gives way to black pepper and sizzling lime in the palate. The finish is long and smoky, and packed with espresso flavour.
